Our sweet Logan Michael Fortuna, beloved son and brother, passed away on March 11, 2026. Born November 4, 2024, he entered the world emulating his big sister Nora – bearing a remarkable likeness, near identical birth weight, and nine days shy of sharing her birthday. Logan was deeply loved from the moment he arrived.
He demonstrated grace and resilience from his earliest days, coming home from the hospital during a snowstorm that left the family without electricity for three days. A lover of dogs, pacifiers, and berries of all varieties, Logan found joy in all that surrounded him. His eyes took in life with a depth of observation beyond his years.
As many know, he survived a cardiac arrest and a complicated hospital course at eight months of age. He is the strongest child we know, making an incredible recovery despite all that his body and mind endured. He was joyous, emanating light and laughter despite ongoing medical follow up.
At times strong-willed and serious, he was also quick to snuggle a favorite stuffed animal, delight in stacking toys, or insist on reading a particular book. He loved classical music – especially The Nutcracker and Chopin’s Butterfly étude, where he would wiggle his hands as if accompanying the music on an imaginary piano.
Logan embraced family meals, eating with gusto, laughing at his sister, and forging a special friendship with the family dog, Lenny, who eventually needed a diet after enjoying so much of Logan’s errant food. Above all, Logan treasured time with his family – squealing with glee playing with his dad, snuggling close for cuddles with his mom, and watching his big sister Nora with rapt attention and a beaming smile as she entertained him.
Logan is survived by his parents, Seth Fortuna and Emily Cotter; his sister Nora Fortuna (6); his grandparents Adele and Jim Cotter, Michelle and Scott Curry, and Tom Fortuna; great-grandparents Doris Bennett and Marlene Fortuna; and aunts, uncles and cousins (Tanya, Zoe, and Piper Fortuna; Holly, Joe, Ryland, and Tatum Johns; and David, Emilie, Collin, and Gray Cotter). He was preceded in death by his uncle Michael Fortuna, on whose birthday he died. He leaves behind so many who love and miss him, from his daycare family at A Child’s Garden, to his many devoted fans including family and friends near and far.
